Our Story

At Your Wellness Inc, we are driven by a single goal: to reduce the amount of suicides and opioid deaths in our region and do our part in making the world a better place for all. We strive to build productive relationships and make a positive impact with all of our pursuits. Why do we care? Today's teens and young adults are committing suicide at an alarming rate. By the time the problem is noticed, it is already too late. According to the World Health Organization, suicide is the third leading cause of death in 15-19-year-old adolescents; and the major causes are depression and other mental health disorders, homelessness, substance abuse, family violence, sexual abuse, bullying, barriers to re-entry, food disparities/hunger, trauma, and loss.  These are some of the leading causes of suicide. As of January 2019, Virginia had an estimated 5,783 experiencing homelessness on any given day, as reported by Continuums of Care to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Of that total, 642 were family households, 447 were Veterans, 248 were unaccompanied young adults (ages 18-24), and 881 were individuals experiencing chronic homelessness. Public school data reported to the U.S. Department of Education during the 2016-2017 school year (most recent data) shows that an estimated 18,577 public school students experienced homelessness over the course of one year. Of that total, 242 students were unsheltered, 2,141 were in shelters, 2,747 were in hotels/motels, and 13,425 were doubled up. These numbers more than doubled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and even now in 2024 opioid and suicide deaths are still on the rise.
